New Toys Bring Olympic Spirit Right Into the Palm of Your Hand

The Olympics are under way in London, England and an assortment of collectibles are now available to celebrate the occasion. Plush figures of both London 2012 mascots, Wenlock and Mandeville, housed in mugs,are available for £10.00 a piece while die-cast models of a London taxi and double decker bus can be had for £12.00 each. In addition, Transport for London has more Olympic offerings at its official online shop. The 2012 Summer Olympic games in London run through August 12th.

LEGO Store Monthly Model Build to Feature Olympic Flame

LEGO has gotten into the spirit of the Olympic games by having the Olympic Flame as its monthly model build for July! Not just limited to the UK, like the Olympic’s inspired  Team GB minifigures , the free Olympic Flame model will be available all across the world in LEGO Brand retail stores.The 2012 summer Olympics are slated to begin July 27th and run until August 12th in London.

30 Years On…

Matchbox, a cornerstone of most boys and girls childhood used to be made by England based Lesney Product, instead of Mattel, as it is today. But unfortunately, the company, like much of its British toy manufacturing brethren, went out of business nearly 30 years ago. But, enthusiasts are trying to keep the memory of the British made diecast models alive with events like the The Wellington Toy and Diecast Fair in Wellington, New Zealand. With numerous Lesney models on display, other vintage British diecast cars from Dinky and Corgi will also be on show. Even though Matchbox is not the same as what it used to be 30 years ago, the memory and nostalgia of the original Lesney diecast is not going away any time soon.

LEGOLAND Windsor Celebrates The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

To celebrate Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee,  LEGOLAND Windsor, located in the United Kingdom,  has built a bust of her majesty and showcased it at the theme park’s hotel. The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, celebrated across the world, marks the 60th anniversary of Elizabeth II accession to the throne.
